Vote for us!
We are delighted to announce that we are taking part in the Tesco Community Grants Scheme! Our project, Boys in Blue was submitted and accepted before Christmas and is now live in Tesco stores across Middlesbrough. Voting will continue until 31st March 2022, against other brilliant community projects across the region to see who you would like to reward with additional funding, so please get voting for us!
To vote, you simply need to make a purchase of any value from the store you want to vote in. When you complete the purchase, you will receive one token per transaction, which you can then use to vote in the voting boxes. Please note, it is not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token.
At the end of the voting period, the project with the highest number of votes across the region will receive up to £1,500, to enable further development of their chosen project. The second placed project will receive up to £1,000, and the third placed project will receive £500.
We chose to nominate our Boys in Blue project because the group have taken some huge leaps forward in the last six months and we don’t want it to stop. The project was set up in connection with Cleveland Police as a weekly support group for boys aged 10 to 14 years old to informally challenge the stigma surrounding mental health through conversation, activities, and fun. We hope to use the funding to offer the boys more opportunities to develop these conversations and their learning.
Getting out in the community is a great opportunity for our young people to find out what’s possible and since the start of this project the boys have started to take more ownership over their experiences, shaping their own learning along the way. Since last Summer, the boys have met Andy Preston - Mayor of Middlesbrough, taken part in cookery, craft and sports sessions, completed some miles through Beat the Street, and visited their local fire station to learn more about being a fire fighter and fire safety. All of this while having conversations and building their knowledge around mental health so they feel more empowered every week.
Please see below a list of stores where you can vote for us. To check the location of any of these stores, please go to the Tesco website here.
