Veterans village

We are part of an exciting project to turn an old care home into supported living for veterans who will benefit from rehabilitation services, fully furnished affordable properties and a community of people with similar experiences, to support in their journey as veterans.

This is something we’re working on alongside the local authority, the community and the Veterans Association to ensure this brilliant site is restored to its former glory and can be part of a much needed support network for the North East.

Castle Court in Boosbeck, was previously a care home, based in the East Cleveland area of North Yorkshire, under Redcar and Cleveland Local Authority, it historically offered both nursing and personal care for up to 38 residents with dementia. The property has such a vast history as it was also used as the village school for many residents and their ancestors.

After many years in a derelict state, this stunning property was in desperate need of some TLC to bring it back to life. In come, South Gare Development Limited. who purchased the property in December 2023 with both the care sector and hospitality industry in mind.

South Gare Developments Ltd, is a property development company, which provides a range of commercial premises, including workshops, garage spaces and a range of larger buildings suitable for multiple office space and community projects. They have completed significant restoration work since purchasing the old care home, with current works including full roof repairs, internal works, new windows throughout the property, drainage works, and now electrical and security contractors are providing installations, along with external groundworks.

Once complete the building will house individual rooms complete with ensuites, reception and staff offices, along with laundry / kitchen and communal areas, private parking and an outside garden with seating and the potential to incorporate additional outside dwellings.

This is where we come in, to create and manage a working project which not only dignifies the site and its history but also brings this much needed vision of veteran’s support to life, and we cannot do it without the support of the local authority and Veterans Association. We hope to tell you more over the coming months.

Before

After

While the refurbishment will be complete soon after a full restoration, the project is in desperate need of furniture, essentials, and everyday items to transform these spaces into homes for those who have served.

Whether you’re a business, charity, or individual, the project is in desperate need of cash donations to help us fund valuable resources. No donation is too small—everything counts toward helping a veteran rebuild their life. This is more than a donation—it’s a legacy of support for those who gave so much for us.
