HOME

As part of HOME - a spectacular mass dance event taking place at this year’s Middlesbrough Mela on Saturday 17th August, we are excited to announce a new weekly dance session along with multiple one off creative sessions that will all contribute to the grand finale celebration. And the best thing – all of the workshops are completely free!

Dance sessions

TeesDance bring a new weekly dance group launching Friday 7th June 11.15am to 12.15pm and running until the end of July.

Suitable for all ages, abilities and fitness levels, there’s no need to book - just turn up with comfy shoes and a bottle of water. And don’t worry if you’ve never danced before – TeesDance believe that everyone can dance but not everyone gets the chance so their groups are free, fun and accessible to all.

Everyone attending will have the opportunity to take part in HOME.

Creative sessions

We are delighted to welcome the TeesDance team back on Thursday 11th July.

Artist Sofia Barton will be providing some fabulous design workshops around the concept of HOME. Using drawing and printing, Sofia will work with our groups on designs for some deckchair art that will be used in the mass dance event.

Participants will of course be very welcome to come along and see their designs as stars of the show!

Sessions times are 10am to 12pm and 1pm to 3pm for adults, and 3:30pm to 4:30pm for children.

CALLING ALL CROCHETERS!

Want to get involved but can’t get to any of the sessions? Join us throughout July to create a field of crocheted flowers in the middle of Albert Park for the event. You can now pick up wonderful crafty packs created by TeesDance to take home and do in your own time.

You'll find everything you need inside - orange and pink yarn, full instructions and even a crochet needle so there's really no excuse not to get involved. We've also been loaded up with extra pink and orange crochet yarn so you can get even more creative and experiment with your designs.

Can't crochet? Knit! There are plenty pf packs for everyone so why not grab some friends and make a crafternoon of it.... All we ask is that you drop them off to us before July 31 so they can be added to the event on Saturday 17th August in Albert Park. Of course you are then welcome to come along and see your designs on show!

HOME has been commissioned by Borderlands and funded by Arts Council England Creative People and Places and you can find out more here.

We look forward to seeing you!
